Outdoor Research Athlete Ambassadors and employees invariably turn to the softshell Ferrosi Shorts and pants when the weather turns warmer. That's why we are introducing the stretchy, breathable Ferrosi Convertible Pants. These two-in-one bottoms feature zip-off lower legs, making them ideal for hiking and backpacking; They're never too hot but always block the shiver-inducing wind and light rain on the trail. The highly breathable soft shell construction offers stretch for smooth movement and tough, abrasion-resistance for rough and rugged rock and trail environments. With different colored zip-off lower leg zippers, you won't spend precious minutes when things cool down trying to match the correct lower pant-leg with the appropriate leg.

I was on holiday in Maine last year when I found a pair of these pants on sale at an outdoor shop. Even though they were very expensive (>$90), I took a chance and it was the best decision I made with a pair of outdoor pants. After my trip, I was thrilled to find them available at Amazon.com, and for less than I'd spent while on holiday. These are super comfortable and light. Surprisingly, despite the thinness of the material, they are an effective wind barrier, though in cooler weather, I do wear long underwear beneath them as an added layer of warmth. As someone who is often in the woods geocaching, I have a lot of trouble with 'travelers' or 'begger's lice' - those annoying little bits of seedy plants that stick to you so that they can spread their weediness elsewhere - but even if one or two get on these pants, they literally fall right off with the brush of your hand! I also like that they zip off into shorts, so if the day gets too warm, I can easily and quickly convert them. Additionally, the pants are a bit stretchy, so they're very flexible. If I can move that way, they can move that way. I plan to buy more throughout the year and am looking into the 'non-convertible' style as well, for those days I know I won't want to change to shorts.Although these seem to run on the more generous side of sizing, I absolutely love them. Besides, it may have been my fault when I ordered a size up fearing I had put on a few pounds due to lack of hiking. Well, once I got my pants I started hiking again and within a few wears I realized I should have ordered my regular size. At any rate, they are extremely comfortable, light weight, quick drying and quite flattering. Even though I could stand to go a size down these still manage not to give me the "dumpy drawers" look. When it's time for another pair of convertible pants I will most definitely be buying these again. These pants will be good for a hiking trip I've planned. Comfortable, long enough (I'm 5' 9" 140 lbs), stretchy. Plenty of pockets. I just wish the pants had zippers down the side so I wouldn't have to take off my hiking boots. When I have the full pants on the zippers kind of bug me but it's nothing tragic. This type of pant seems to run small from several companies. I normally wear a size 4 (waist 28.5, hip 38.5, inseam 31.5, 5'7" 125 lb) but needed a size 6 in this pant to accommodate hips/rear. The waist is a bit big although it can be cinched in with an inner drawstring. I think a partially elasticized waist and/or belt might have made for a better fit. An inseam length was not given, but this pant was just adequate for me although I would have liked them slightly longer. The shorts are a bit long, ending right at the knee. I would have preferred a couple of inches shorter but they will do.Absolutely love these pants - great for hiking, travel, and really just hanging out. They are *super* comfortable - I think the fit is very good, and it doesn't get "mom butt" so that's a plus. Have worn these for four backpacking trips and several airline trips and no snags, issues yet. Love the versatility! Great colors and value - can't say enough about these pants. I have the black and the pewter and think they are very attractive.I like these pants very much, in theory. The fabric is great, and I'm sure they'll be comfortable. Unfortunately, they don't come in petite sizing, so both the shorts section and the long section will have to be shortened before I can wear them -- they're about 6" too long for my 5'1" height.I usually wear a six and I bought a four. I probably could've bought a two if I wanted them to fit snug. I used the measurements found on OR's website (http://www.outdoorresearch.com/en/women-s-ferrosi-convertible-pantstm-0-41054.html) to size them and I'm happy I went with the four. These pants are extremely well made. I went camping in Texas in July with these pants and they were perfect. They were cool. I'll definitely buy more OR gear in the future!Love the fit and feel of these convertible pants! I have been looking for convertible hiking pants for a long time, as soon as I slipped these on I know they were the one. The length and waste are perfect. As shorts long enough for good coverage zippers aren't a problem.Very light and breathable, but also very durable. I would have preferred a cinch belt over the tie that these pants provided.meilleur convertible de tous ceux que j’ai essayé (une 10aine)
