No, this is not a warm jacket in and of itself. It's very thin lightweight material. It a great layering item. For example... I wore it over a t-shirt and sweatshirt while shoveling in 17°F with about 10-15mph winds. I generate a lot of body heat naturally and this stopped the wind from breaking thru. I wound up sweaty by the end of my driveway which is big enough for about 8 vehicles. The hood covers up your neck and head (duh right) and it's the same wind block as the body of the jacket and it fits nicely over a hat. It has the cinch cord to hold it down. It isn't very big to begin with anyhow. The jacket nicely packs into it's own pocket. Since it's very stretchy it doesn't restrict movement. I wear it for a breathable yet wind break layer when running in the cold. I use it for work since I'm outside for my job a lot. So far it's been very durable. My only complaint about it so far it's the stupid thumb holes. They are way too small for using long or at least for my hands. I have some other items with thumb holes that are bigger and very comfy. These not so much. They work to keep the sleeves down if you put another snug fitting layer over this but imo that's all these are good for.I think it's a good jacket worth the money on a sale. I'm not a big fan of sticker prices.First of all, I don’t know what some of these reviewers are thinking. Below 75 you need something more substantial? I guess this is all personal comfort and how humid of a climate you live in but from 65-74 I’d say most places you don’t need much of a jacket at all unless it’s very humid overcast and windy or rainy. Here in Denver the t-shirt and shorts zone is around 55 and above. Anyway, this has been a very nice and useful layer for me. It’s good in chilly weather (from sunny days in 20s-40s or above if you need it) and light rain or snow. I’ve skied in it on nice days in 20s and 30s also with tech t-shirt underneath and it performed great. I’m an OR fan an this didn’t disappoint.I like my Ferrosi hoodies alot and wear them often in 50-70 F temps. They don't really help that much when it gets chilly or wet though unless its a quick and not too hard of a rain. That is where this Ferrosi Summit shines actually. Its a little tougher of a material yet still lightweight and comfy. Its also much more water resistant and has a much better hood. It also has the better pocket/organization options than the regular Ferrosi. For sizing, it is about the same. I find it to be a regular fit with a slight learning toward the slim fitting side. I'm 5'11 and about 200 pounds and large fits me. I went with the XL to save almost a hundred bucks though (no brainer, really). When you need a little more, its great to have this Summit ready. Thanks OR and Amazon.I've had this Jacket approx. 4hrs, and already know that I'll love it. I've already taken a 1 mile walk with it on in 32 degree f temps and a 15 miles per hour wind and was impressed with how it felt on me and how it kept the wind at bay. I'm 6' tall and weight 170-175 ( athletic build) and was torn between a med and large. I decided on a large and am glad I did because it fits perfect. I wound up putting a puffer under the ferosi on my walk and it wasn't overly tight at all. I think someone my size would be fine with a medium if you were more interested in a fitted look and had little need for much layering underneath. My only knock if any would be that the sleeve cuffs aren't overly loose which is good for wind ,but requires some negotiating over the wrist if your wearing a watch. Overall I see this as a jacket I will be grabbing for almost all but the warmer temps and just altering the layering underneath. This wind breaker, not a jacket, is kind of awful. I can't call it a jacket as it offers zero insulation no liner of any kind and does nothing to retain warmth. I don't get cold easily but find myself shivering in this thing. It blocks wind, feels like it might be water resistant but also feels kind of cheap. It might be useful as a summer rain jacket but it is virtually useless as a the fall/winter jacket it is advertised as. Also it is crazy short barely makes it to my waist despite fitting arms and shoulders well. I really wanted to love this but it is a significant let down.Same great quality you expect from Outdoor researchI keep this in my backpack at all times because it’s light weight and you can wear it without getting hot inside buildings and it keeps you warm in 50-60 degree weather easily tooOne note is this color is deceiving because I was expecting a black on grey, when it arrived it was a medium grey on light grey no hint of even dark grey on it so it’s a greybuy the black if u want black on it as this one isn’t close in color at allI have the black one as well and they are both equal in fit and qualityLightweight. Does a remarkable job of keeping the chill out while not overheating and blocking wind while staying breathable. More of a windbreaker on steroids or light layering piece than something that can be worn alone on colder days unless you are active. Stretch allows good freedom of movement. Surprisingly durable considering how thin it is. Water resistant (water beads but does soak in after a while) and dries quickly. Runs small. My regular size was snug but not uncomfortable due to stretch. Liked it enough that I also bought a size larger for layering underneath. This is a hybrid, light jacket/rain resistant. Much more comfortable than most rain jackets, with a soft lining, and great stretch that means it does not restrict range of motion. It isn't actually waterproof, but it is quite water resistant. My very first time using it was on a 18 mile hike, and it rained hard for 45 minutes, followed by a lesser rain for a couple hours. It didn't stay completely dry, but water was still beading up, and it performed better than I expected.Recommended as a light jacket that is water resistant. Not recommended if you need a hardcore waterproof rain jacket.Great jacket, got the blue and its a bit more muted in the flesh which is very nice. I got the large, I'm 5'10" and 190 pounds, athletic build and it fits well, not too tight around the shoulders and would allow a thin jumper under but not too baggy.Performance wise its very good, windproof so quite warm but breathable and lightweight. I use it for cycling on colder dry days and it's great.Used this on lots of hiking and walking adventures cant go wrong. Windproof 100%. Retains heat and lets your perspiration stay inside. Very very breathable.Excellent light weight water resistant jacket, lovely material, plenty of stretch.Ticks all the boxes - just like wearing a thin flexible top.good
